Rob is bugging me to write on the blog...I really don't have much to say since all I do is feed Colden and try to put him to sleep. We read together and I talk with him and tell him how he's going to grow up (Colden, when you grow up, you're going to be like Captain Moroni...don't be like Amalakiah...yeah...I've been reading the Book of Mormon with him...)
Have you ever noticed that no one ever tells an expectant parent that they are never going to have a good night's sleep again? That's because birth rates would drop and the world would suffer a major population deprevation.
So, lately Colden has been spoiling us with sleeping quite well at night...and I definitely can't complain about that. I've been averaging more than 6 hours of sleep at night with a few 4 hour stretches of good sleep.
Then last night, his nice rhythm broke. I barely had an hour of shut-eye when he was up and so was I...feeding him. 2 hours after I put him down, he was up again. Let the fun begin!! After changing 2 poopy diapers, his PJs and a onesie (since he peed on himself the 2nd time I changed a poopy diaper), I looked down at him and saw 2 large, dark, open eyes staring back at me. I tried to nurse him back to sleep, but he was already full. Normally, I've been "super-mom" and I put him back to bed myself. But last night, I let my "motherly instincts" take over and I handed him to my mom...and I'm so glad she was here to take him! Needless to say, I'm a walking, feeding zombie/milk cow right now...
So, like I said before...parents don't ever tell new expectant parents what the first few weeks of parenthood is really like. And it's probably a good thing, too. All I can say is that I totally and completely admire Ruth in being able to take care of all 6 of her newborns all by herself. Now, that's a Super Mom!!
