It's over...well, almost. Uh, not quite. People STILL owe up.
Today was the culminating day for this year's Girl's Camp Fundraiser. And guess who was in charge....yes. The new Camp Director. Me. Boy, am I glad today is over.
It all started a few weeks ago when last year's Camp Director handed me 120 boxes of Valentine's chocolates and 60 Valentine's cards and 6 sign-up sheets. For the past few weeks, those sign-up sheets have gone around Primary, YW, YM, Elder's Quorum, Relief Society, and the High Priest group so ward members could sign up for Valentine balloon bouquets (3 sizes of 4, 7, or 10 balloons). We had a grand total of 55 orders. So, you can imagine how many trips I made this morning to the pharmacy where the 200+ balloons were blown up. You can also imagine how my living room looked (sorry...didn't think to take a pic). You can also imagine how happy Rob was about all of this (Angie, tell me again WHY this had to be at our house?). And then, you can also imagine how I felt when I thought I had lost the money that I wanted to deposit in the bank today (I looked all around the house and searched the car. I said a prayer in the car and as soon as I was done, I looked down. And right there, in my line of vision, was the bag of money...between the passanger seat and the console).
At 2:30, 5 YW and 2 leaders arrived. Great. 55 orders, and 2 drivers (even though I thought there would be more drivers). So, we got the first couple of orders out the door and then eventually 2 more drivers showed up. After about 1 1/2 hours, I could actually see my ceiling. Good thing those other drivers showed, or I would have been stuck down-stream without a paddle.
Everything worked out, eventually. One person called and said that they didn't get their balloon order. Rob drove over to their house and dropped off extra balloons and chocolates. When he got there, they got their order...from a neighbor because it was dropped off at the wrong house. Hey, at least we were able to make almost enough money to pay the girls' way to Camp. However, I never really care to be in charge of a work-raiser again.

Sarah, I think your situation is worse than mine...I only had it bad for one day!
Maren...I volunteered for this calling. :) I just volunteered a little too early. I was the YW Pres until about a month ago (yes, through the pregnancy and everything). When I found out I was going to be released, I was sad and I still wanted to be a part of their lives. So, I asked for the job. And, truthfully, I'm totally looking forward to it. I love camp!
I think Rob's not so excited about my willingness...
