I'm hoping someone will know this...Ken maybe?
Rob has a BUTTLOAD of applications to fill out as he applies for Ortho school. And, as the dutiful wife that I am, I have agreed to help him. Most schools have a PDF version of the application available on their web sites. But since PDF is read-only, we would have to print the application out and type (with an ancient type-writer) Rob's information into the blanks. Just imagine how long that would take...even if we just do 10 five-page applications.
QUESTION: Is there a way to type onto a PDF file in Word or in an RTF format without having to purchase a $100+ program?
Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks!!!

I talked to my roommate who knows a ton about computers. He said you will need the full version of adobe acrobat reader. That can be purchased at a store or can be hacked online. hmmm.
I don't have to imagine how long it would take because I DID fill out 27 separate applications and arranged all of the envelopes and letters to ask for all the different letters of recommendation!
AND, I did it with a toddler and a very fussy (but wonderful) baby who was given the gift of constant screaming. It took months and we basically had to live in a messy house all the time because it literally took me hours every day to get it done.
(Applause) So now I bet you and Rob can understand how AMAZING I am and why I almost had a nervous breakdown more than once!
So, my recommendation? BUY THE FULL VERSION OF ADOBE ACROBAT READER.
You will save yourself literally hundreds of hours and nightmares if you do it that way. And, you'll be able to fill out more apps and have a better chance of getting into a program.
I found this link that gives you a student discount and you can get the software for $89. Make sure you call Adobe first though so you can know it will do what you need it to do before you pay for it.

Good Luck! And I will be happy to help you when I come out in May. I learned a lot of tricks to make it go faster.
Love, Elice
This site also looks good (adobe acrobat 7.0 Pro for $143, student id verification required)

You can also get adobe acrobat 6.0 pro for $99 at http://www.cdsalesusa.com/
but it sounds a little fishy...
Hey Angie -
What's your address? I'll send you the full version.
Hope you can make it to the scrapbooking flea market in July! Bring your wallet full of $$!
Lara (Sarah's pal)
Thanks everyone for your help! This will save us (me) a TON of time. It'll be a whole lot easier to copy/paste things than to type them one at a time. I'm still NOT looking forward to this, but I want Rob to be happy in his career, so I'll do this for him.
Elice, I hope that you and Chris can now say all of that work was worth it! And I'm sure you can say that...I will also probably call you when the going gets tough...since I know you'll have an understanding shoulder that I can cry on!!
Laura, I've been "working" for Ruth...she's hired Rob and me to take care of their lawn. I'll bring the $$ I make from that for the scrapbooking market.
