I love Sundays

This morning, Colden woke me up at 6:15, both of us still tired. After I fed him and did the morning stuff, he went down for an early morning nap. Then I read my scriptures. I sat in the cool morning shade in the back yard while I read. I wrote in my journal as I heard birds chirping all around me. I felt the sun play peek-a-boo through the trees.
I was reminded of the many times I have read, studied, or written outside. The summer before I married Rob, I was working and going to school. During my lunch break at work, I would drive about a mile to a nearby park. There I ate my lunch as I studied my scriptures. I did that on my lunch break here in Richmond, too (but I usually just napped). When I went to Jerusalem for study abroad, my favorite place to study was on the grass just to the side of our bedroom balcony (overlooking the old city of Jerusalem). I remember reading on the shores of Galilee. I pondered on a hilltop in Chile. Many times in college when I was sad, frustrated, or confused, I would go for a bike ride or a drive to someplace away from the city and closer to God...either in nature or somewhere close to the temple.
I'm so glad for the experiences I've had. I'm thankful for a love of nature that was embedded in me as a young girl. I mostly love the calm and peacefulness of a cool spring morning gives. Thanks, Heavenly Father, for showing me so often how much you love us.

Guess when I do my prayers and meditation? Every morning when I'm running on the trails by our house. I've learned my head is clearer when my blood is moving and I'm surrounded by trees, sky, and birds.

Which reminds me, did you all know - the house we are building, our property line will back up to a large wash which is a little "valley" that is unbuildable and untouched by construction, etc. So every day we'll be able to go hiking by walking out our back gate. Isn't that so awesome! That's probably the thing I'm most excited about with having that house.
