New Patterson Post News

Time sure flies when you're on dial-up because it takes longer to look things up.
Rob news:
Rob is in Long Island right now. I haven't talked to him because my phone was in the diaper bag so I didn't hear it when it rang. Darn. But his messages say that he's loving the city. The University is in a "Ritzy" (his word) part of town. So, I'm guessing that he's liking the atmosphere of the big city. We both do, actually. He'll see how much he likes the school and the faculty tomorrow. Right now, SUNY is last on this list of three schools. He really wants to go to NOVA in Florida.
Angie news:
My Visiting Teacher just started a play group called Mommies Making a Difference. We get together every Thurs and once a month we do a service project. Yesterday, we dressed our kids up in their Halloween costumes and went to an assisted living place. The elderly people just LOVED our visit. It was so fun to see their smiles. The kids really brightened their day. I want to do that every year...as long as I have a pre-kinder kid around. Colden was dressed up in a darling Lion outfit that Grandma Boo found for him. He is THE CUTEST LION EVER! I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them. I love watching him walk around in his little costume. It's absolutely darling. I just wish he would growl now (he stopped growling a few months ago--grrr).
Colden news:
I started reading the Children's version of the Book of Mormon this week. I figured that I can start teaching Colden how to follow the prophet already. We're already in 2 Nephi. Colden also loves to ride his bike. He gets on it and pushes himself around wherever he can go. He imitates our words more and more...even if he isn't consistent about it. He'll sometimes say buh-buh for bye bye or for cup or for juice or for bottle. If I say, I'll be right back, he'll say (grunt) ack. He also loves to walk from the car to the front door of the house. During lunch time (he's a very slow eater), I just started showing him alphabet flash cards. He enjoys that. It's fun being a mom. I just can't believe that I'll have two in less than six months. Scary.

Angie, I wish I could see little Colden grow up more often. Thanks for telling us what he's up to. My uplifting thought for having #2? Just assume that once you have two, you will get absolutely nothing accomplished! Then, when you do get something done, it feels really good! Isn't positive thinking great?

Seriously though, Angie, I kept thinking I could do it all and got myself all "pumped up" that I COULD be "supermom" only to be really let down ... got Mastitis several times, then had a severe post-partum depression. With Cami, I prayed hard to not have the same experience, and I kept feeling to let go of all my expectations and just bond with my baby. So I did, and I was so happy, my family was happy, and the weirdest thing, I got more done somehow even with some major relaxation and letting it go!? Good luck - I'll pray for you and PLEASE CALL if you ever need an empathetic ear or any good ideas. Love you! Elice
