
The morning started with the traditional Patterson Birthday breakfast waffles: waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. Yum. We love birthday waffles! Dylan helped me make the waffles.
After breakfast (and baking the cake), I decided to take the boys to one of their favorite parks: Lone Elk Park and th


After our rests, I finished the horse cake (for directions, click here). Grandma Ruth sent some darling farm candles with his birthday present so I decided to make a cake that went along with the farm theme. Can you tell that Dylan liked it?
When Rob came home for dinner, we decided to roast hot dogs outside in a fire pit for Dylan's birthday dinner. It was windy and the wood Rob gathered from the backyard hadn't dried out from all our recent storms. Despite the challenges, my Eagle Boy Scout amazing husband got the fire hot enough to cook our hot dogs! Go Rob! The kids, like always, enjoyed the ambiance more than the hot dogs.

After dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to Dylan and he blew out the candles before the song was half-way over. Then Dylan opened his presents. His new bike is a little too big for him...oh well. His favorite present is the little cement mixer that drives along the track. Bedtime was later than usual and resulted in both boys throwing tantrums...proof that the day was
