I don't know what it is about that last trimester, but I've just gotta do something out of the ordinary or crazy to help me pass the time.
Before Colden was born (on Aug 24), we flew from Richmond, VA, to Utah for a Davis family reunion in June. In July, my whole family came out to visit us. We went with them as they toured Washington, DC, and New York City...mostly on foot.
Before Dylan was born (April 16), I was the head coach for our ward's Young Women's basketball team. May I mention that I've never played organized basketball before? One day during practice, I joked with one of the YW. I asked her where the B-ball was while standing sideways with the ball next to me.
However, this pregnancy craziness trumps all of my previous ones. We just got back from a 2 week road trip to California and back. Yep. (doctor approved...at least the trip...I didn't tell him how far we were going). Talk about crazy. 60+ hours in a car. But it was worth it...for several reasons. The main reason was because this was the best time for us to check out possible locations for us to settle once after school. The other reason, and the more rewarding reason, was that we were able to see most of our family...on both sides.
(Apologies...we forgot our camera at home, so I don't have any pictures. You can check out my sister's blog for one picture of Colden.)
On the way to CA, we stopped in UT for 2 nights. We were able to see all of my siblings (except for the one on her mission) and my grandma. Our time there was well spent: relaxing picnic in the canyon, catching up, playing games, loving each other.
Then we drove to Reno for 2 nights (one of the locations we were checking out). It's a really nice city with a beautiful, clear river that runs through it. We also were grateful to stay with some old friends from Richmond, the DeMordaunts.
Then we drove to Morro Bay, CA, near San Luis Obispo in the central coast region. We stayed with Rob's brother, Joe, for several nights. We checked out that area and spent time with all but 2 of his 5 siblings. We loved the cool weather, the family time, the ocean, the sand, the tide pools, Joe and Steph's cats, and the cousins.
We were planning on going to San Diego to check that place out, but then decided not to. We both love visiting there but realized it's too big of a city for our tastes. So, we stayed a few extra days in Morro Bay then took an extra day in coming home.
On the way home, we stopped in Prescott, AZ, at Rob's sister's house for two nights. Prescott is another spot we are looking into...so it was good to get a look at it on the same trip.
Then we drove two more days home. In the middle of the second day, Colden asked if we could visit his other cousins in Texas (the only ones we didn't see). Although I wish we could have visited them, the trip was obviously long enough. We arrived home last night...and we are so glad to be home.
For the last while, I've been looking forward to this trip as a milestone to pass before this baby comes. Now...it's baby prep time. Hopefully I won't do anything else too crazy before she comes!

Okay, you are officially amazing! Or completley CRAZY! 60+ hours in the car?! We drove out to St. Louis on Friday for a last minute temple trip with Joseph's brother and sister (so I'm kind of glad you were still out of town since it was so last minute and there's no way we could have gotten together!), and just the 4 hours in the car had me swelling (wedding ring no longer fits...) and miserable, and CRANKY. Way to live up the last of your baby-free days! And good luck getting ready!!
I should've gotten the pictures mom took in the canyon and put them on my blog! Hopefully she'll email them to you.
It was really fun to see you guys! I can't believe you didn't go to San Diego since that's where I want you go live!!! Stinkers! ;)
Angie you crack me up!! That is so awesome that you were able to take such a big trip. How exciting to be looking for possible places to live. When are you due again? You are awesome and good luck with preparing for the new babe!
Oh...I was already swollen...I haven't worn my wedding ring for a couple of months now.
Another nice note: I went to the Dr office today and gained 5 lbs in 2 weeks. Too much junk food and fast food during the trip. There goes another 3 lbs that will be difficult to take off!
