Proceed at your own risk. Just when you thought you were sick of it all...I bring you more! wha ha ha
I just want to say that the abortion issue isn't the only reason why I'm choosing to vote a certain way this election period. I don't want anyone thinking that I'm really biased toward one issue. But...just for the FYI of it, I'm choosing to vote for McCain/Palin because I think their platform more closely follows my ideals than Obama. Hey, what can I say...I'm a conservative. I'm agreeing more and more with the thought of choosing a Pres who will be more likely to appoint conservative judges so we don't have our Constitution "interpreted" in a liberal way...like what happened in Roe vs Wade. With a majority of liberal judges, many things could quickly become Constitutional without having to go through an Ammendment process. A radio host said, the other daym that a liberal judiciary branch could play with the Constitution like it's putty in their hands. I thought that was an interesting way to put it.
I want to conserve my rights so I don't want government stepping into everything...aka I don't want to become a more socialist nation.
I think McCain has a better/realistic grip on world politics and foreign policy.
I don't want a Robin Hood to rob the rich to feed the poor. I want the poor to learn how to feed themselves...and the rich are already heavily taxed. I think they've earned the right to donate their surplus where they want to...they don't need more gov't programs to tell them where to put their money.
I want to conserve the environment and natural resources...and both parties are concerned about that now.
I want to concerve my right to teach my children what I think is moral and what is not.
I want to conserve our capitalistic economy as much as we can (I hope it hasn't been damaged too much already).
So, both candidates have shady pasts...one with his family, the other with his faith (if that's what you would call it). I guess with this election, I'm more about conserving the fundamentals of my rights and my nation...I don't want those fundamental things to change...and I'm afraid that's Obama's agenda behind his flowery rhetoric.
So, Fran, I welcome a friendly debate. I know you're aching for it. Bring it! Don't worry...no matter what you say, you're still invited for Thansgiving. :)

hahaha! Sorry, no debate. You'll vote for McCain, and Henry will vote for ...Obama maybe, and I don't get to vote at all. And, Obama is going to win the election, and then we can all see what evil things will happen. I don't need to debate the conservative views of others. Of course, I could...and then I'd ask you whether you're still taking advantage of such evil socialistic things such as Medicaid, and WIC, and if you intend to use such evil socialistic programs as the public schools, library, and fire department. But, usually those discussions are fruitless, and I should be sleeping anyway, so therefore: happy voting to everyone! ;)
I do agree that it's good for the government to be involved with certain things in our lives...but I just don't want it taking over more and more things. And I don't think socialism is evil...I never said that...I just think that a capitalistic economy (and I know that the US isn't totally there) encourages innovation, competition, and other -tion things. :) I think that when things get too tightly related to the government and regulation, then we lose some good things like that.
well, I think we could have an interesting conversation about those things. If you want to, we can talk about that nice stuff at Thanksgiving, while we cook, and the elections are over. :). It's true, I love to talk about politics. Sorry, I just can't help it. It was my second major. ;)
AMEN Angie. Well said. I totally agree...I don't really care for either candidate, but am choosing the lesser of two evils. :) We don't need the government intervening in every aspect of our lives.
Laughing as I just read another of your posts, where I apparently quote you exactly on the lesser of two evils... ha ha
I will be interested in why you would choose Obama. I know that you're in favor of free health care for all...and yes, I do get medicaid and WIC right now. But I also feel like I could partially pay for medical insurance, so I would prefer affordable insurance over free for all. (I also consider myself in the poor category that's working towards self sufficiency, not a poor person who plans on relying on the system the rest of my life.)
Anyway...we'll talk while the bird is roasting and everything is said and done.
Yeah, let's talk. I think it'll be fun and make the time fly by. But in the mean time, I'm not in favor of free health care for all. I'm in favor of health care that's affordable, and working in the interest of the insured rather than the insurer. I'm also in favor of everyone having health care so that no one has to foot the bill for someone else, who's got no coverage.
And I can't avoid saying that Obama also is not in favor of free health care! He wants everyone to be covered, and he wants more regulation for insurance companies so they can't just drop someone, or not take someone on because of some funky, made up reason...and those who can't be covered by insurance, he wants to be able to get on the government insurance all politicians are on. :) But he has no plans for the government to provide some nationwide health care that's free, and everyone is on it.
