Random Musings

I know...I'm not very good at posting regularly. But, I often think of things that I would like to post about. So, now I'm giving you the shortened version of different things I have never gotten around to dedicating whole posts about. I relish comments...so I hope one of these random musings echoes something in your life worth commenting.

1. 3 kids. They really do take up a lot of my time. I just thought it was a newborn thing. But I am still trying to reconfigure my systems and schedules (i.e. regular exercise, cleaning, me-time, blogging--obvious, projects). I'll re-evaluate in 6 months...by then, Evelynn will be out of the infant stage and I will know if it's just a postpartum thing or not.

2. Never ending projects. We have now been remodeling our teeny, tiny 1/2 basement bathroom for 2 months. I haven't even finished with the painting. What we have done: stripped removed everything, wallpaper included, removed wallpaper glue, patched drywall, sanded, primed 2 coats, painted ceiling. What's left to be done: paint, tile the floor, put in new cabinet/sink, put in 1/2 new toilet, put in lighting. Why it's taking forever: me. The walls are my responsibility. Once they're done, Rob will do the floor. Why it's taking forever: see Random Musing #1.

Other never ending projects: twin comforters for the boys, our Wedding album, the boys' bedroom, Evelynn's bedroom.

Do you have any never-ending projects that are always in the back of your mind just waiting to be done?

3. New Year's Resolutions. I'm just hoping that some things in #2 will be accomplished this year, but I'm not making them resolutions. So, I've decided to keep my New Year's Resolutions simple: move to Arizona (it's gonna happen anyway) and not get pregnant during this calendar year. I have been pregnant for at least some time of each calendar year since 2002. I won't let myself get baby hungry too soon!!!

4. Evelynn is almost crawling! I do have a sweet video clip, I really do. I'll just have to post it, won't I.

5. Food storage dry bean tip. A few times, I have cooked with my dry beans...leaving them in the crock pot over night and letting them soak/cook/soak for almost 24 hours before dinner. And they are still a little too hard. But no more!! I found this tip on the Church Food Storage web site and tried it the other day. It works! Who-would-a thought...all ya need is a little baking soda. Boy, my black beans came out supa-soft!

6. Moving to Arizona. I can't help getting excited for our move at the end of the year. Sure, A LOT has to happen before then. But I am looking forward to moving on from the eternal-student-living-off-of-the-gov't-and-student-loans part of our lives to the part where Rob will be bringing home real bacon, even if it's just lean at first.

7. Potty Training. I would assert that Dylan is officially potty trained! He's been working on it for about a month, now. He's been really good at having no accidents during the day for 1-2 weeks. Last night, he went through the night with underwear and woke up DRY! Go Dylan!

Does anyone need size 5 diapers? I have about 20 of them left...

Thanks for reading my random musings. I hope that next time I will have some great pictures and video for you.

you got a lot going on! Good luck with the remodeling. i would pass over the painting to rob- and not feel guilt about it. Being a mom is hard. sometimes we need more breaks than we think we deserve. I am starting to get a little bit of "light at the end of the tunnel" vision myself ( though my light isn't quite as developed as your)

I can totally relate! Smiling and nodding as I read:) We have number 3 here now too, my parents are here right now, but after they leave....back to reality!

Go Dylan with the Potty training! That's great! and I can't believe Evelynn's crawling and I haven't even seen her yet! :(
And all I have to say about the projects is that the bathroom better be done by the time we get there this summer (or at least usable)!

Great post. I like random topic posts. We have so many house projects. Our problem is $$ and motivation. But, if we had the funds, I think we'd become motivated.

Max is in Size 5's right now, but will be movin' on up to 6s pretty soon.

I've always got a list of projects I want/need to do. Catching up on scrap booking is a major one.

We still haven't got the potty training done here. I didn't have the energy while I was pregnant, and now that the baby is here and we moved... it just hasn't happened. And James can be a little stubborn.

Eternal projects - Seems like every project I begin (or consider beginning) is a never-ending project. For example, last Saturday, I decided to install a trailer hitch receiver on the back of our van. This is something that I've wanted since we first bought it (back in November). I'd done plenty of online research regarding pricing and quality, so I already knew what to purchase and where to get it. The only place that had it in stock was about a 35 minute drive away. At about 11:30 am, the project began with me loading up three kids in the van to go pick up the hardware. Long story short, I returned home from a "20-minute installation" at about 10 pm.

dunno...I don't have any post partum issues, Henry is potty trained, and I can't think of a single eternal project I have, or any project for that matter. Usually I go till I am done with something, or it simply isn't important enough to be finished and then it is not a project. We are not moving any time soon, and...I guess I really can't relate.
