Last week, w

e hosted a family reunion at our house. I'm so glad that most of my family (my brother and his family couldn't make it--we missed them) made the trip to come out here. We sure did a lot, and I think everyone had a good time, at least most of the time.
On Wednesday, July 1, we took the kids to Suson Park. That place is always a hit with the kids--thanks to the farm animals and the great playground. Then my sister did two photo shoots for some of our friends later that day. She also has better blog posts and pictures about our reunion...so if you're interested, you can check out her
page.
On Thursday, we took them to the Science Center. The adult

s enjoyed a Planetarium show while the kids explored the Discovery Zone. Colden just had to show his cousins the dinosaurs...one cousin liked them, the other didn't. We stayed long enough to almost see all of the exhibits. Later that night, we luckily got a babysitter last minute (it had been Girl's Camp up until 12pm that day) so the adults could go to a Cardinal's game. They played the San Francisco Giants. My brother-in-law played baseball at BYU, so he was really excited to go to the game--especially against the Giants since he's from the Bay area.
The next morning, we all headed to the zoo...like everyone else who had Friday off for the 4th. Well, the place was packed and the road was like a parking lot. So we changed our plans and decided to go to Ch

uck E Cheese for lunch instead of dinner...and
then go to the zoo. Chuck E Cheese is always fun and crazy--and I'm always ready to leave when the tokens run out. We made it to the Zoo around 3:00, so we had 2 hours to see it all. Amazingly, most of my family did get to see almost all of it. They cruised that last hour. At 5:00, we stayed for a few songs at the outdoor concert, then we took some incredibly exhausted kids home.
The 4th of July was a great day. We started with a bre

akfast and Independence devotional at our church. The breakfast was good--the talks were a little long for a Saturday morning. When we got home, Rob and I started to prepare for our awesome BBQ. Rob has recently decided that grilling is his new hobby. So we grilled zuchinni, hot dogs, and kabobs with the works (onions, peppers, fresh pineapple) and two different meats (chicken and steak) in two different marinades. Yum. Then we went downtown for the Festival at the Arch. It was fun and the kids really enjoyed the bouncy stuff. The concert was good, too, what we heard of it. We had heard horror stories about getting out of downtown after the fireworks. And we could see that the kids were getting tired and we bought a lot of fireworks to set off at home. So we left. As we were driving home, we could see several fireworks

going off in different neighborhoods. That was cool.
First thing Sunday morning, the first group left to drive home. My parents stayed until Monday. Just before I took them to the airport, we stopped by the Missouri Botanical Gardens and did a quick tour of that beautiful place.
It sure was great to have family here. We love you and miss you!!
