A little background: what's a Core phase? In the educational philosophy I have chosen to rear my children, they go through what is called a "core phase." Basically, it's a foundational phase where they develop a strong sense of who they are, and they learn the basics of moral principles as they learn what is right/wrong, good/bad, choices/consequences, and the power they have to make choices based on the outcomes they hope for (so they aren't victims of circumstance, but hopefully leaders of their own destiny).
Anyway, as they are going through their Core phase, it feels like I've been going through a Family core phase. The books and subjects I'm drawn to read mostly help me build the foundations I want my family and household to have in order to be successful, in order to have order, in order to have a learning environment, etc.
For example, I go through spurts in which I can't read enough about these subjects (and I accept blog stocking as acceptable real-time and real-life examples of women/families applying these subjects):
Types of education, including different methods of homeschooling, learning, learning philosophies, learning styles
Home management: chore systems, laundry tips, time-saving tips, finances/budgets, couponing
Organization in the home, time management, schedules, etc
Developing talents (aka, home decor, crafting, sewing, cooking, etc)
Child-rearing: philosophies, tips, discipline techniques, etc
Are there other mothers out there who do or have done the same thing?
I look up to so many mothers who are a little or a lot further along in their role as mother, and I can't help but think that they also went through a Family Core phase...and step by step, I'm bringing myself and my family where I hope we can be someday.I would love to hear your own adventures and thoughts of how you feel like you're growing as a mother/homemaker.
