My Wonderful Kids

Here are a few darling things my kids have been up to lately:

Today, Colden's new lizard, Iggy, died (we brought her home only 2 weeks ago). She was a green anole, also known as an American Chameleon (since she changes colors). While I was working on emails and, frankly, on Facebook, he completely cleaned out the terrarium all by himself! He washed the plastic leaves, the rocks, the branch, the water bowl, and dug out the dirt. He wants to prepare the terrarium for a new lizard that he'll get tomorrow. He's been so responsible with taking care of his lizard. He fed it crickets and mealworms, sprayed the tank, turned on the lights in the morning, cleaned out her water bowl, cleaned out her poop. The reason why she died is more due to all of us not knowing what to do. We've learned from our mistakes...so this shouldn't happen again.

After she died, I asked him how he felt, and he said, "I'm scared." He really handled it well. I'm so proud of him! Rob and I decided that he's ready for the Bearded Dragon that he originally saved his money for.

For homeschool, I created a Math Chart for Colden and Dylan to encourage them to do math activities. When they complete everything on their chart, Rob or I will take them out for ice cream. They are so motivated to do this!! This morning, even before I was done eating my breakfast, Dylan was writing some numbers. And he was using an old cell phone for the numbers! He would look at the number on the number pad then write down the number on a piece of paper! He cracks me up! He's also learning how to read. And when he's ready to sit down to do a reading lesson, he'll keep going until we complete about 4 or 5 reading lessons! That kid has some perseverance!

Evelynn is in that fun stage where everything she does is just cute. Except scream at her brothers when they tease her too much. Or write on walls with markers or make disastrous messes when she's bored. Whenever she goes to bed, she has to give "huggies" to everyone. She'll climb up Colden's bunk just to give him a hug. And if any of her favorite stuffed dolls/animals are around, she'll give them a kiss on the face and hug them before I put them on the high shelf in her closet (otherwise she wouldn't go to sleep because she would just play with them).
And she loves to pick out her own clothes. I really have no say in it anymore.

They are all excited for their baby brother to come in a few months. They keep talking about when I'll go to the hospital to have the baby. I sure love my little bunch!

Oh yeah, and tell Colden we'll keep catching 'his' lizards.here. We have them everywhere and Ken has passed the tradition on to the children of hanging them from your ears like earrings. We've even had them attach to our fingers and it's quite the job to get them off. :)

So sad about his lizard but he seems like he is very responsible. Love Evelynn's outfit! I think some of those clothes are mine. We have the same taste!
Did your kids like their Christmas presents? I keep forgetting to call you.
