Guess what I get to do at work today?!? I get to sit on the phone with Earthlink Customer Support for the past 30 minutes (and probably at least another 30 more) canceling 50 dial up internet accounts. I'm glad that I got someone who is working with me...not against me (since I'm closing out accounts)...and I've been positive with her...and I think that's the magic I need to make it so it's not a horrible customer service experience. I've been told by someone who did this task last year that this can be a pain.
Well, I've laughed with my customer service buddy and we've joked about how long this is taking. And I'm hoping that I'll be able this will help us cancel the accounts more smoothly. Good thing my preggy hormones aren't controling me today!!
I think that sometimes customer service people aren't all that amiable (like they are supposed to be) because the people they service are rude and difficult. So, why not be nice and workable...I think that can get you further than being rude and difficult.
I can tell that the lady on the other end of this phone could be strict and unmovable if someone provoked her. But she's talking with me in the sweetest tone.
Hence, the lesson learned today is that the Golden Rule applies to so many things in life...even to those long, annoying but necessary customer service phone calls we must occasionally make.
Do unto others as you would have others do to you!

Hey...I just got off the phone with them. :) 1:29:51 is the amount of time I was on the phone.
What a way to make the afternoon fly by.
