Today we had a wonderful birthday celebration for Colden. Mom and Dad came over and helped us turn our simple hamburger dinner into a gourmet BBQ dinner complete with grilled vegetables, grilled corn on the cob, cantelope, grapes, salad, and corn chips. I decorated 1/3 of a cake for Colden in bright blue. I added a few of his toy fish for extra decor. As soon as he tasted the sugar, he did a double-take. It was like his food was spiked.
Grandma and Grandpa gave him a really cool training scooter. COLDEN LOVES IT! He couldn't wait while Daddy and Grandpa put it together. He kept getting in their way. Once he got on it, Rob pushed him around, making VROOM noises. Colden caught on very quickly. He also started making "motorcycle" noises. Colden's version sounded like a very long BRRRRRRRRR. We were laughing so hard!! Already, such a little guy knows that things with motors go VROOM or BRRRRRRRRRR. It was hilarious. Well, I hope you all had a very enjoyable 24th of August.
Exactly one year ago, I was still lying in the hospital bed with a catheter, just begining to heal from a C-section and thinking I knew how to breastfeed Colden but really knowing nothing at all. Now, I'm a mom of a one-year-old. I'm sure it's the same. I think I know how to take care of this kid, but he changes so quickly that I just really pretend to know.
