Train Talk

Colden is 3! Yay! We had a fun little day (Aug 24)with Colden. It started out with strawberries and whip cream with a side of waffles (a Patterson birthday tradition that is too good to give up). After Rob went to school, the kids and I met some friends at the zoo. The boys love going there...and I can't wait for the heat and humidity to subside so I'll enjoy it more.

During Dylan's nap, Colden helped me frost his TRAIN cake (not really...he just watched me do it even though it looks like he helped me). That night, we went to McDonald's for dinner (to Rob's disgust) because that was a bigger treat for Colden than any dinner I would make at home. Then we came home for cake and presents (Dylan is enjoying the packaging of Colden's new Cars underpants).

We are also in the process of potty TRAINing him. Once he turned 3, he became a big boy...and big boys don't wear diapers. Yesterday he had 3 accidents and today he hasn't had any. So tomorrow, as a reward, he can wear his Thomas the TRAIN underwear. I'm amazed at how well he's catching on. (We'll just see how he's doing in a few weeks...)

Love the cake! How did you make them all individually? Bread pans? Good luck potty training! Brinley was off to a good start like that and it all fizzeled...but maybe it'll go well for you! I know you aren't letting your hopes get too high!

It's already started to fizzle! Today, Colden had 3 accidents. But he made up for it in the end by making it to the bathroom the rest of the day.
We're in for the long haul!!

My mom gave me this tip when we start potty training Max. Just let Colden run around naked in the backyard and put a little potty outside. Because he wouldn't have to pull down underpants, it makes it easier to be a big boy. My mom did that with me and my sister and we were potty trained in no time. Eventually, when Max is old enough, we're going to try it.

Cute train cake - you're so creative!
