PV Crazy Daze of Summer

One of the great things about living in a small town is the chance to do small-town stuff...like going to a parade that actually throws candy. I've never actually taken my kids to a parade, so that morning, they were asking me, "What's a parade?" (The big ones are also just too boring to watch on TV, so my poor children haven't been exposed. Well, I think we may have started a tradition. And Rob enjoyed getting as much free candy as Halloween.)

(the best float in the parade)

After the parade, since we were already out and had the rest of the morning to kill, we went to Goldwater Lake (sorry, no pics). And then after naptime, we headed back to Prescott Valley for the Carnival. The kids thought they would get to ride 10 rides, since Fern in Charlotte's Web gets to. But we told them they could only ride 1. And a good thing, too. The rides were a rippin $3-5 each! The boys really wanted to ride the Ferris Wheel, but Evelynn couldn't because she was too short (too bad I had already bought hers and my tickets...so we had to waste them on something else that she could ride...a long slide).

After they were done with the Ferris Wheel, they wanted to ride about half-a-dozen more. So we had a talk about how expensive it is, how we saved up our money just to go on that one ride, and how they can save up their money if they want to go on more rides next year...such a fun conversation to have while sitting on the pavement at the carnival. I almost thought it would ruin their experience. But, no. Yesterday, we passed the carnival on our way home from church...and they were talking about how they want to go again next year!

You guys sound like us. Brinley and Cambree know what expensive means and Brinley is always looking for stuff on sale. Love it!
