On Friday night, Joe kindly stayed back after the kids went to bed while the rest of us went running or on a bike ride. On Saturday morning, Sarah helped push me into running twice as far as I originally intended...that was awesome. After we all exercised, we headed over to some tide pools near Los Osos. All the kids (and kids at heart) enjoyed looking for the little marine animals left behind in the cracks of the rocks.
Rob and Sarah headed off to another sections of rocks to see if they could find anything different. They found some fist-sized crabs and other cool things.
I just had to take a pic of this cute scene! Dylan and his cousin, Timmy, were holding hands on the hike back to the car!
Later that afternoon, we went surfing at a beach in Morro Bay. Steph let me borrow a wet suit and I actually got to surf! Well, I caught a few waves and got up on my knees. But when I tried to stand, I always fell (the one time I tried...I think I need to practice skate boarding more to work on my board balance). Rob surfed a bunch of waves. Sarah was in the water and surfing before we set our towels on the beach. Brian also surfed a bunch. Joe surfed and surfed and surfed and just didn't stop! When I couldn't surf anymore, Steph used the wet suit and surfed until everyone was done. Colden and Dylan kept chasing waves and birds. And the little kids (Timmy, Evelynn, and Olivia) had fun playing in the sand.
Sunday, July 4th, was spent mostly relaxing (except for the 5k that several ran in the morning) and ended with a fun cribbage tournament in the evening.
