At the end of January, we decided to take advantage of the good weather and one of Rob's days off and we went to the Verdy Valley, 1 hour west of us, to take a scenic drive and see Montezuma's Well. On the way, we stopped at a picnic area for lunch and...hide-and-seek.
The Well, which I didn't get a picture of, is a natural sink hole filled in with water that Indians used as a water source about 1000 years ago. Evelynn is standing in front of a dwelling...that doorway is seriously just a few inches taller than her! I'm soo glad we don't have to stoop to get into our home!
While we were there, the kids decided that they also wanted to visit Montezuma's Castle instead of go on the drive. So we obliged.
The Castle is an ancient Indian dwelling built in the side of a cliff...much like Mesa Verde in SW Colorado.
We picked up a couple of Junior Ranger packets so the boys (and we) could learn more about the Natives who lived there. They filled out the whole thing and earned a couple of badges. Dylan still proudly wears his when he happens upon it.

Well I'm glad I inspired you to make a post. Looks like a fun time! You guys always find interesting things to do.
So cool about the Blurb book. I started one a few years ago when I really blogged, but never sent it off to get printed. I should plan on that project while I'm off on maternity leave.
I deleted my last comment cause I didn't write everything I wanted to, but I didn't realize it would keep my name up there for all to see! haha! Anyway, just wanted to say that it's amazing that you guys are out there in short sleeves in January! We barely even see the sun over here! Just a couple days a month. But it looks like fun!
Mandy, don't worry...it didn't leave your name up there. It just says that the post has been removed by the author.
