Last night, Rob took me to a great, little Vietnamese restaurant called Miss Saigon. The service was excellent...complete with Asian accents and manners. The best word to describe the food was fresh. We split a noodle soup. A plate of "vegetables" (a couple stalks of freshly cut basil, other fresh herbs, peppers, and bean sprouts) came on the side. The waitress told us to put some of the "vegetables" in with the soup. I, however, didn't know that the peppers were jalepenos, for flavor only, and I ate a slice. My mouth was on fire for 5 minutes!! The waitress recommended hot water, which I tried, and my mouth finally settled down in time for my main course. I picked a shrimp and noodle dish...once again, it had fresh vegetables (what I would consider as vegetables and not just herbs...cucumbers, cabbage, and other stuff). It was flavored with a light, vinegary lemon garlic sauce. It was so good. I would love to replicate either of these dishes in my own kitchen. I ate until I was stuffed, but I didn't feel heavy with fullness. Our whole bill was less than $25...for soup and 2 entrees! My shrimp dish was less than $8!

Afterwards, we went to Ted Drewes frozen custard stand. Ever since we moved here, people have told us to go there. It is so smooth and creamy. It's like ice cream, but it's custard (don't ask me what the difference is). Their "concrete" custard is so thick that the cashier tipped the cup upside down to make sure it was solid enough before she gave it to us.
We're very happy with the discoveries we made last night. We'll definitely be revisiting these places while we're here!!

You didn't say it was for your Birthday!! Happy 29th B-day! Love ya, sis!
Happy Birthday! One tip I learned from Luis. If you eat something hot/spicy, put a pinch of salt under your tongue. The saliva generated from the salt cuts down on the sting.
